OpenClaw and the right level of automation

I've been running OpenClaw for almost two weeks now. The initial honeymoon phase you get when you blow life into your computer has somewhat worn off. Or maybe my expectations just keep rising? But now I'm dealing with the API usage bills from the AI labs that dwarf the standard $20 a month consumer plans. Here are my (still very early) reflections.

When Lisa moved into my server

Like everyone I've been using AI prompts like ChatGPT and Claude for a while now to get things done quicker. And like most programmers I've spent a good deal of time using AI coding tools as well. First with Cursor and now with Claude Code in its TUI. (Staying in the terminal feels very natural to me.) On the one hand a very fast way to generate unlimited amounts of slop and spam the whole internet, on the other hand many are seeing leaps in productivity (in some fields more than others).

Blogging in 2025: Screaming into the void

Before social media became what it is today I used to blog a lot. And I wasn't the only one, many people did. There was this idea of a decentralized and open web: everyone had their own little space on the web (with a selfhosted blog, or a platform like wordpress or blogger).
